Many organizations offer upgraded badge types in addition to plain gold adges.. I've listed the different variations I've come across for each organization. The ones listed in italics are what is shown on each NPC, NIC and NPHC page. Many organizations offer a plain badge as standard to new members, but new members can upgrade by talking to their pledge educator or contacting the sorority directly.

Some of these pins are only made for International Executive Boards, International Presidents, alumnae etc. There is much more variation in older pins, as many times they were made by individual jewelers instead of one company. If you know of other versions on a pin, let me know, contact info is on the main page. You can view badges at Herff Jones and at the NPC Sorority Badge Blog.

Plain All available in YG, WG, SS Older badges have larger phi's that aren't shiny. Newer badges have A's and phi's of equal size, all glossy. Old Lazy Phi badges had very different looks, styles and jewels because they were not made by the same jeweler. Current Lazy Phi's are standardized. The new member pin used to be slightly curved and a pewter look, it's now a flat pin which is quite shiny and resembles silver. The older ones look more antique. |
